3.2 ELECTROMEChANICAL CONDENSER AND VENTED DRYERS

1 Main timer
2 Delay timer
1
The Delay timer allows the start of programmes to
be postponed up to:
• 18 hours, for Ariston dryers
• 12 hours, for Indesit dryers
The Main Timer allows the user to select drying
programmes with a cycle duration of:
• Indesit condenser: 180' including 10' to cool the
fabrics
• Indesit vented: 160' including 12' to cool the fa-
brics
• Ariston condenser: 140' including 7.5' to cool the
fabrics
The Reversing Timer allows rotation of the motor
in both directions and deactivation of the heating
elements, and is featured only in Ariston dryers.
On Indesit dryers, the direction of rotation of the
motor is controlled by the main timer

3 Door interlock relay
4 heat switch
hEAT SwITCh - This is usually an open "push-push"
switch, installed on the control panel surround. It
allows the user to select high or low temperature
settings for one or both of the heating elements.
Consulting the wiring diagram, it can be seen that
when this switch is activated, the heater unit is acti-
vated on either full or half power, delivering 2200W or
1100W output. To select maximum heat, the switch
is positioned "in"; to select minimum heat, the switch
is positioned "out".
- The door interlock relay is installed on the power
PCB located at the back of the control panel. The
power PCB always has a single-pole relay with a
normally open contact.
The relay inhibits the machine from operating, with
the door closed, until the programme start button is
pressed.
If the door is opened during the course of the pro-
gramme, the dryer stops and will not restart until the
door has been closed and the start button pressed
again.
This feature is a standard safety requirement on
dryers with appreciably large doors.
The options on the power PCB allow for the use of
a low voltage buzzer and/or LEDs. Certain earlier
models may have a conventional electromechanical
relay installed at the rear of the control panel rather
than the power PCB, although the operating principle
is identical.
