RJ45 Serial Console Port

The RJ45 port on the front management panel is available for switch console
management. The port operates using RS-232 serial communications. A compatible
console cable kit is included with the switch.
To connect a computer or terminal to the switch using the included kit, connect one
end of the Category 5 patch cable to the RJ-45 console port of the switch and the
other end of the patch cable to the RJ-45-to-DB9 adapter (see the following
illustration).

The computer or terminal must run a terminal emulator (for example, SecureCRT,
HyperTerminal, or PuTTY). The console port terminal emulation requirements are
as follows:
• Default baud rate: 115,200 bps
• Character size: 8 characters
• Parity: none
• Stop bits: 1
• Data bits: 8
• Flow control: none
