The following parts comprise the management panel.
The micro-USB Type B serial console port on the front management panel is
available for switch console management. The port operates using RS-232 serial
communications. A compatible console kit is included with the switch.
To connect a computer or terminal to the switch using the included kit, connect one
end of the micro-USB Type B to USB Type A serial console cable to the micro-USB
Type B serial console port on the switch and the other end of the console cable to the
computer or terminal (see the following illustration).

Note: On the computer or terminal, the USB Type A serial console port appears as
a serial communication port when the connection to the switch micro-USB Type B
serial console port is established.
The RJ45 console port on the front management panel is available for switch console
management. The port operates using RS-232 serial communications. A compatible
console kit is included with the switch.
To connect a computer or terminal to the switch using the included kit, connect one
end of the RJ45-to-DB9 serial console cable to the RJ45 console port on the switch
and the other end of the console cable to the computer or terminal (see the following
illustration).

Note: If you connect to the switch using both console ports (RJ45 and micro-USB
Type B) at the same time, the RJ45 console port connection is terminated. The
micro-USB console port has a higher priority than the RJ45 console port and
disconnects the RJ45 console session.
