Maintenance to the engine fuel delivery system should be performed
by an experienced mechanic familiar with diesel engines. For detailed
maintenance procedures on the engine fuel system, refer to the engine
manual supplied with the machine at the time of shipment.
If storing the machine longer than 30 days the following steps are
recommended.
Flush the pump and hose lines by pumping clean water for a few
minutes. If the pump was used for pumping salt water, be sure to use
fresh water when flushing it.
Change the engine oil.
Drain and clean the fuel tank. Replace the fuel filter.
Thoroughly clean the exterior of the pump and engine. Visually inspect
the machine for signs of damage or loose bolts.
Remove the covers and clean the pump interior. Wipe or spray all
interior surfaces with a rust-inhibiting oil.
Change the oil in the seal and bearing housings.
Replace the covers. Seal the suction and discharge openings with
tape.
Remove the battery from the machine and store it in a clean dry area.
Charge the battery once a month to maintain condition of the
electrolyte.
Store the machine indoors in a clean, dry area. If the machine must be
stored outside, wrap it tightly.
