2.7 Tilt in space
The tilt-in-space of the TEKNA TILT works by means of gas
springs that are controlled with a single lever on the
backrest's handlebar.
The two controlled release gas springs push the seat in its
way to the minimum inclination, while they slow the tilting
movement down in the opposite direction where the user's
weight tends to accelerate it.
This helps to control the tilt in space movement speed in
both directions.

The tilt in space movement stops when you release the lever.
At any seat inclination, you can safely use the wheelchair.
The anti-tip wheels must always be
positioned facing backward in order to work
as safety device preventing the wheelchair
from tipping back.
To tilt the seat backward, press the lever L and push the
handlebar down.
To tilt the seat frontward, press the lever L and pull the
handlebar up.
To check if the tilt-in-space function works properly, make a
few tests without load. Carry out the operation as above
explained.
When you tilt the seat backward, the wheelchair, being it
without load, could lean on the anti-tip wheels and thus
raising the front wheels. That is due to the necessary force
to compensate the gas spring's.
When you tilt the seat frontward, after pressing the lever,
you will feel the gas spring pushing. Without applying force
and while holding the lever, let the system work until its full
stroke.

Calf strap

In some cases, according to the caster's size and to the wheelchair's width, the caster, while
turning on the fork's axle, may touch the user's talon.
In order to prevent such contact that may lead to overbalancing, the wheelchair is provided with a
calf strap. The calf strap has to be adjusted in such a way that the user's feet never touch the
casters.
You can easily adjust the calf strap via Velcro straps.

2.9 Adjustable backrest upholstery
The backrest can be adjusted to the user requirements by tensioning or slackening the two special
Velcro straps hidden within the backrest itself.
To carry out the adjustment, lift or remove the upholstery, tighten or slacken the Velcro straps as
required and place the upholstery back.
