9. Install the keyboard. See "Replacing the keyboard" on page 124.
10. Install the bottom cover. See "Replacing the bottom cover" on page 116.
11. Install the removable battery. See "Replacing the removable battery" on page 113.
12. Turn the computer over. Connect the ac power adapter and all cables to the computer.

Replacing the hard disk drive under the bottom cover

Before you start, print these instructions. Read the important safety information first. See "Important safety
information" on page v.
Attention: The hard disk drive is very sensitive. Incorrect handling can cause damage and permanent loss of
data. Observe the following guidelines:
• Replace the hard disk drive only if you upgrade it or have it repaired. The connectors and slot of the hard
disk drive are not designed for frequent changes or drive swapping.
• Do not drop the hard disk drive or subject it to physical shocks. Put the hard disk drive on a material, such
as soft cloth, that absorbs any physical shocks.
• Do not apply pressure to the cover of the hard disk drive.
• Do not touch the connector.
• Before removing the hard disk drive, make a backup copy of all the information on it, and then turn off the
computer.
• Never remove the hard disk drive while the computer is operating, in sleep mode, or in hibernation mode.
To replace the hard disk drive under the bottom cover, do the following:
1. Disconnect the ac power from the computer and turn off the computer. Close the computer display and
turn the computer over.
2. Remove the removable battery. See "Replacing the removable battery" on page 113.
3. Remove the bottom cover. See "Replacing the bottom cover" on page 116.
4. Pull the tape to take the hard disk drive with bracket out of the drive bay.
5. Insert the new hard disk drive with bracket into the bay.
