Manual transmission

While depressing the clutch pedal, depress the brake pedal.

Shift the shift lever to N. (P. 294)

Set the parking brake. (P. 306)

If parking on a hill, shift the shift lever to 1 or R.
Turn the engine switch off to stop the engine.

Lock the door, making sure that you have the key on your person.

If parking on a hill, block the wheels as needed.
Hybrid transmission

Stop the vehicle completely.

Shift the shift position to P. (P. 299)

Check that the shift position indicator shows P.
Turn the power switch off to stop the hybrid system.

Lock the door, making sure that you have the key on your person.

If parking on a hill, block the wheels as needed.
Starting off on a steep uphill
Multidrive and hybrid transmission

Except hybrid model: Make sure that the parking brake is set and

shift the shift lever to D.
Hybrid model: Firmly set the parking brake and then shift the shift
position to D.
Gently depress the accelerator pedal.

Release the parking brake.
