Creating and Using Macros
A macro is a way of combining many different keystrokes into a single com-
mand. When you create a macro, you basically tell the system to memorize all
of your keystrokes until you say stop. A special set of macro keys, that you as-
sign (e.g., <Alt-l>, <Alt-2>, etc.), will let you execute the macro at any time.
When you press the predefined keys, the system swiftly executes each of your
original keystrokes. An operation that originally took several minutes to key
in, executes in a few seconds-very fast. Any tedious task that you routinely
perform is an excellent candidate for a macro.
