    American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Recommendation The AAP advises, and some states require, parents to keep their toddlers in Rear-Facing car seats until age 2, or until they reach the maximum height and weight for their seat.     Vehicle Information Vehicle Child Restraint Anchorage System (LATCH) • LATCH stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children. This term refers to the anchors built into a vehicle for attaching child restraints and consists of two lower anchors at the crease between the vehicle seat back and vehicle seat cushion and a top tether anchor behind the vehicle seat as shown in Figure 5.
