Adjustments
This section describes adjustments required when the printer is disassembled and assembled after
repair. Since this printer has both black and color heads, it needs new adjustments not required for
previous printers. Perform the appropriate adjustments after referring to the table on the next
page.
Perform adjustments in the order indicated. Always follow the correct order.
In printing the adjustment pattern, use wide tractor-fed computer paper.
If you need to remove the color ink cartridge, always install a new cartridge immediately
after removing the old one. During adjustments, use cartridges exclusively for service
(Color cartridge part number: 1023207).
Reset protect counter B using the adjustment program to make the printer perform the
initial ink charge operation before sending the unit back to the customer.
After you reassemble the printer, if the sliding cam is forward and the carriage lock is
engaged, the carriage will bang into it on power up. To correct this problem if it occurs,
push down the cam as shown, and on power up the printer will retract the lock.
