Statutory regulations governing installation

NOTE:
The regulations are binding within the territory governed by the
German Road Traffic Act and should similarly be observed in
countries without specific regulations.
A "General type approval" with an official test mark has been granted for
the GBW 300 water heater in the region governed by the German Road
Traffic Act by the Federal Department of Motor Vehicles:
~ S 330 for the GBW 300 heater
as has a type approval under EC Directives 72/245/EEC (EMC) bearing
EC approval number: e1*72/245*95/54*1260*xx
The units must be installed as set out in the installation manual.
The year in which the heater is used for the first time must be perma-
nently recorded on the heater's factory plate by the installer by deleting
the inapplicable year figures.
The combustion air must not be drawn from the interior of the vehicle.
The mouth of the exhaust pipe should be installed upwards, to the side
or, if the exhaust pipe passes under the floor of the vehicle, to the side
or rear limit of the driver's cab or the vehicle. Exhaust pipes must be
installed in such a way as to ensure that the ingress of exhaust fumes
into the interior of the vehicle is not expected. The function of important
parts of the vehicle must not be adversely affected. Condensate
accumulations in the exhaust pipe must be discharged immediately.
A condensate drain hole may be drilled if necessary.
"Combustion air intake" and "Exhaust fume outlet": The openings
for the combustion air intake and exhaust fume outlet must be designed
in such a way that a sphere with a diameter of 16 mm cannot fit into
them.
Statutory regulations governing installation
The electric cables and controls for the air-conditioning system must be
arranged in the vehicle so that their proper functioning cannot be
adversely affected in normal operating conditions.
The heater must not be installed in the driver's cab or passenger cabin
of buses.
The heater is not approved for installation in vehicles used to transport
hazardous substances.
Compliance with the directives of VdTÜV, TRG, ECE-R110, ECE-R67
and DVGW is required for the installation of gas pipes.
Gas pipes must be designed in such a way that torsion in the vehicle,
movements by the engine and the like do not have a negative effect on
their durability. They must be protected from mechanical damage.
Gas pipes must not be installed in the passenger cabin or driver's cab
of buses. Parts that carry gas must be positioned such that in the event
of a fire the entry and exit points are not place in immediate danger.
The parts that carry gas must be inspected on a regular, annual basis.
Leaking or damaged parts must be replaced with genuine spare parts.
The operating status of the heater (at least on or off) must be easy to
identify.
