From the positioned fi rebox the fl ue can be assembled. The fl ue is in 1200mm lengths with both inner and outer
fl ue. Each fl ue length has a crimped end to join tightly to the next length. Each joint must be securely fi xed by
at least three stainless steel rivets. The fi rebox has a spigot for the fl ue to locate over. The fl ue lengths should be
installed with the crimped end facing up.
The Firebox and fl ue should be secured by fi xing with seismic strapping and/or brackets to framing. Flue bends are
available from Real Fires if the fl ue needs to be o set. Appropriate weatherproof roof fl ashing/ chimney capping
must be used to comply with NZS 5261
Once the installation of the fi rebox and fl ue is complete, the building work around the fi replace can continue. A
timber cross frame is usually fi xed above the fi rebox for gib fi xing. This must be at least 25mm from the fi rebox.
The fi rebox will have two electrical leads from the rear of the fi rebox. All fi reboxes are pre wired for the electrical
options, Fan and Electric On/O .
The leads are approximately 1.2m long and are intended to be connected by an electrician to a switch positioned
facing the room preferably on the left hand side of the fi replace cavity. See installation drawing
(Please ensure the electrical leads are not left behind the fi rebox and overlooked. It is di cult to gain access once
the giboard is fi xed).
Timber surround
If a timber surround is to be fi tted, ensure it complies with Real Fires minimum clearance dimensions.

Installation instructions of Real Fires Burner into rebox
The burner is supplied boxed complete with, fi rebox refl ectors, grate, ash cover, vermiculite, logs, & coals.
To make the gas connection, place the burner in the fi rebox so that the back of the burner is touching the back of
the fi rebox and is positioned central. The gas pipe should be bent into position and marked for cutting.
Remove the burner cut the pipe and make a fl are connection.
Re fi t the burner into the fi rebox ensuring it is touching the back of the fi rebox. Connect the gas pipe. Test for
soundness. Remove plastic protective fi lm from side refl ectors. Position refl ectors each side of fi rebox and fi t the
front grate onto the brackets at the front of the burner. The Grate holds the refl ectors in place.
