Changing a wheel

Vehicles with AMG wheels and aluminum
hub caps:
To remove: take socket ; and lug wrench

= from the vehicle tool kit (
Position socket ; on hub cap :.

Position lug wrench = on socket ;.
X
Using lug wrench =, turn hub cap : coun-
X
ter-clockwise and remove it.
To install: before installing, check hub cap :
X
and the wheel area for soiling and clean if
necessary.
Put hub cap : in position and turn until it is in
X
the right position.
Position socket ; on hub cap :.
X
Attach lug wrench = to socket ; and
X
tighten hub cap :.
The tightening torque must be
18 lb-ft (25 Nm).

Note that the hub cap should be tightened
to the specified torque of 18 lb-ft (25 Nm).
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you have
the hub cap installed at a qualified specialist
workshop.
Using lug wrench =, loosen the bolts on the
X
wheel you wish to change by about one full
turn. Do not unscrew the bolts completely.
The jacking points are located just behind the
front wheel housings and just in front of the rear
wheel housings (arrows).
Take the ratchet wrench out of the vehicle
page 288).

tool kit and place it on the hexagon nut of the
jack so that the letters AUF are visible.
Position jack A at jacking point ?.

Make sure the foot of the jack is directly

beneath the jacking point.
Turn ratchet wrench B until jack A sits

completely on jacking point ? and the base
of the jack lies evenly on the ground.
Turn ratchet wrench B until the tire is raised
X
a maximum of 1.2 in (3 cm) from the ground.
