Setting a Reference for Far End Source Mode

1.
Turn on the test tool and the optional source. Set the remote end
configuration to Far End Source Mode. Let the DSP-FTA4XX units warm
up for five minutes. Let the optional source warm up as required.
2.
Choose two known-good patch cords of fiber type matching the cables to
be tested, e.g., 50 µm multimode; 62.5 mulitmode, or singlemode with the
appropriate connector types. Clean all fiber connectors.
3.
Make the connections shown in Figure 7.
Turn the rotary switch to SPECIAL FUNCTIONS. Select Set Fiber

Reference; then press E.
