1. I s t h e unknown component c o n n e c t e d correctly?
2. I s t h e unknown what i t is thought t o b e ?
Large inductors c a n look like c a p a c i t o r s a t 1 kHz.

Are a l l t h e p a n e l s w i t c h e s s e t properly?
4.
Are t h e BIAS and E X T D Q jack s w i t c h e s
c l o s e d ?
Insert a plug and short t h e plug t o check.
5. I s t h e D s o high (Q s o low) that Orthonull
should b e u s e d ?
6.
I s OSC L E V E L control on?
7. I s D E T SENS control on?
8. Are t h e b a t t e r i e s correctly in p l a c e ?
No meter indication, or a low meter indication,
may b e due t o w e a k or dead b a t t e r i e s , lowoscillator
output, poor detector s e n s i t i v i t y , or a faulty meter.
If t h e trouble p e r s i s t s in the DC INTERNAL

posi-
tion of the function s w i t c h (where t h e oscillator and
detector a r e s w i t c h e d out), t h e fault is in either t h e
b a t t e r i e s or t h e meter circuit.
T h e b a t t e r i e s c a n b e c h e c k e d either by replace-
ment or by substitution of an e x t e r n a l d c power supply.
In t h e latter c a s e , s e t t h e bridge function switch t o
DC EXTERNAL. If t h e trouble p e r s i s t s , t h e meter is

faulty.
T h e meter c a n b e c h e c k e d by connection of an

e x t e r n a l indicator (earphones, a c meter, o s c i l l o s c o p e ,
