-Service and Maintenance
6.1 WARRANTY.
We warrant that e a c h new instrument manufactured
and sold by u s is free from defects in material and
workmanship and that, properly used, i t will perform
in full accordance with applicable specifications for a
period of two years after original shipment. Any instru-
ment or component that is found within the two-year
period not t o meet t h e s e standards after examination by
our factory, District Office, or authorized repair agency
personnel will be repaired or, a t our option, replaced
without charge, except for tubes or batteries that have
given normal service.
6.2 SERVICE.
The two-year warranty s t a t e d above a t t e s t s the
quality of materials and workmanship in our products.
When difficulties d o occur, our service engineers will
a s s i s t in any way possible.
If the difficulties cannot
be eliminated by u s e of the following service instruc-
tions, p l e a s e write or phone our Service Department
(see rear cover), giving full information of the trouble
and of s t e p s taken t o remedy it.
Be sure t o mention
the type and s e r i a l numbers of the instrument.
Before returning an instrument to General Radio
for service, p l e a s e write t o our Service Department or
nearest District Office, requesting a Returned Material
Tag.
Use of t h i s tag will ensure proper handling and
identification.
For instruments not covered by the
warranty, a purchase order should be forwarded t o avoid
unnecessary delay.
6.3 MINIMUM PERFORMANCE STANDARDS.
T h e eighteen checks listed in Table
6-1
are
given s o that it c a n b e determined that the instrument
is in proper working condition (1) on receipt of a new
bridge, (2) after a period of non-use, or
(3)
after repairs
have been made t o the bridge.
If any specifications
(READ column) are not met, refer t o paragraph 6.4.
Table 6-2 lists the recommended t e s t equipment for
t h e s e checks plus the equipment needed for the cali-
bration procedures given later.
Figure
6-1
shows the
equipment connected in a block diagram form.
