Using your hand or a small plier, pull the retainer pin up to disengage its bottom part from the

chassis, and then slide the retainer forward to remove it from the chassis.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the drives and the
internal system components to cool before touching them.
CAUTION: In systems that use external data storage, be sure that the server is the first unit
to be powered down and the last to be powered back up. Taking this precaution ensures that
the system does not erroneously mark the drives as failed when the server is powered up.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to electrical components, take the appropriate anti-static
precautions before beginning any installation, removal, or replacement procedure. Improper
grounding can cause electrostatic discharge.
To remove the component:
Power down the server (on page 27).
