Routine Cleaning

If the exterior of the machine, the scanner unit, or the touch panel display appear dirty, wipe them
clean with a soft cloth, using water or a mild cleansing agent on a firmly wrung-out cloth, then wipe
dry.
WARNING
• When cleaning the machine, turn the control panel power switch, the printer unit power switch on
the left side of the machine, and the scanner unit power switch on the right side of the machine to
OFF, then unplug all the power plugs. Failure to observe these items may result in a fire or electri-
cal shock.
• Clean the parts using a firmly wrung-out cloth dampened with a mild cleansing agent. Do not use
alcohol, benzene, paint thinner, or other flammable substances. If flammable substances come
into contact with the electrical parts inside the machine, this may result in a fire or electrical
shock.
• Take care not to pour water or the cleansing agent directly over the machine when performing rou-
tine cleaning to avoid direct contact of either with electrical parts inside the machine, which may
result in a fire or electrical shock.
CAUTION
• Unplug the power plug from the power outlet at least once a year and clean the area around the
base of the plug's metal pins to ensure all dust is removed. If dust accumulates in this area, it may
cause a fire.
