AHA/ERC/ILCOR Guidelines for use of AEDs. This guide provides information about the operation and care of the ZOLL AED 3 defibrillator. The ZOLL AED 3 Administrator’s Guide is to be used by trained medical personnel in conjunction with the ZOLL AED 3 Operator’s Manual.

Conventions Throughout this document, text prompts and voice prompts are indicated by capital italicized letters, such as CALL FOR HELP.
• Description of the problem • If you need to send the ZOLL AED 3 defibrillator to ZOLL Medical Corporation, obtain a service order request number from the Technical Service representative. NOTE Before sending the defibrillator and battery to ZOLL, check with your local shipping company to see if there are any restrictions on shipping lithium batteries.

If the defibrillation pads cable is not attached properly, the AED issues the PLUG IN PADS CABLE prompt. Make certain to connect the defibrillation pad cable to the ZOLL AED 3 defibrillator and attach the pads to the patient properly. WARNING! Defibrillation pads must be pre-attached to the device.
Transferring Files Using a USB Flash Drive All ZOLL AED 3 models have a USB port that allows you to export and save configuration settings, clinical archives, and device history to a USB flash drive. This feature allows you to easily copy a configuration from one AED to other AEDs.

Support Bar — The brace that opens to hold the AED in an upright position. Graphical Display Area The ZOLL AED 3 defibrillator has a 5.3 x 9.5 centimeter LCD screen that displays the following information in the modes in this section: AED Management Mode and Rescue Mode.

Audio Prompts During clinical use of the ZOLL AED 3 defibrillator, you may hear the following audio prompts: Table 1. USB flash drive. This allows you to quickly and easily update software or copy a configuration to multiple AEDs. In order to transfer data, the ZOLL AED 3 defibrillator must be in AED Management mode. To enter AED Management Mode, press and hold the On/Off button for at least 5 seconds, then press the Device Configuration icon on the main display screen.
The ZOLL AED 3 BLS model has an audio recording option that can be configured on or off. If the audio recording option is on, the ZOLL AED 3 BLS model can record and store 60 minutes of continuous audio, ECG, and clinical event data.
