    Installation Requirements Conditions of Installation It is the law that all gas appliances are installed only by a GAS SAFE Registered Installer, accordance with these installation instructions and the Gas Safety (installation and use) Regulations 1998 as amended. Failure to install appliances correctly could lead to prosecution.

    Flue and Chimney Suitability This appliance is designed for use with conventional brick built or lined chimneys and fabricated flues. It is also suitable for use with pre-cast flue blocks conforming to B.S. E.N. 1858. All flues must conform to the following minimum dimensions. Minimum diameter of circular flues 125mm Minimum effective height of all flue types...
  • Page 6 be thoroughly swept. The base of the chimney / flue must also be thoroughly cleared of debris etc. 3. Any under-floor air supply to the fire place must be completely sealed off. 4. Ensure that the inside of the chimney / flue is in good condition along its length and check that there is no leakage of smoke through the structure of the chimney during and after the smoke pallet test.

    Fitting to Fireplaces with Existing Chairbricks and Conventional Brick Built This appliance is suitable for use in fireplaces fitted with an existing chairbrick without the need for removal of the chairbrick, providing the minimum depth of the fireplace exceeds 235mm. if depth is less than 235mm then the chairbrick must be removed.

    Hearths This appliance must only be installed onto a concrete or non- combustible hearth. The hearth material must be a minimum thickness of 12mm with the top surface at least 50mm above the floor. The hearth must be fitted symmetrically about the fire opening and have a minimum width of 760mm and a minimum projection of 300mm forwards form the fire opening.

    INSTALLATION OF FIRE Unpacking the Fire Carefully lift the fire out of the carton. Remove the loose item packaging carefully from the front of the appliance.   • Page 13 IMPORTANT: Sealing of the gas inlet apertures In line with current regulations, it is imperative that the gas supply inlet aperture that is utilised during the installation is sealed with the grommet as supplied in the loose items pack. The product is manufactured with 3 gas inlets in the firebox wrap to allow a left hand, right hand or rear gas inlet supply to the inlet elbow.

  • Page 15 To fit using the preferred cable method proceed as follows: c) Mark out and drill 4 of No 14 (7mm) holes In the back face of the fire opening in the positions shown below in Fig. 5 Fig. 5 Fit the wall plugs provided and screw the fixing eyes securely into the rear of the fire opening.

    The other fire box fixing method is as follows: In installations where the cable method is not suitable (e.g. loose masonry in rear of the fire opening) the fire box can be secured to the fire surround using four screws and wall plugs (not provided).
  • Page 18 The burner should light, continue to hold the control knob for a few seconds then turn to the full on position. d) With the fire on full, check that the inlet gas pressure is 20.0 mbar (+/- 1.0mbar). Check this with and without other appliances in the house switched on.

    Warning: The burner is designed using Ceramat which gives a clean flame and sparkling effect. Do not use any refractory ceramic fibre coals or pebbles on the fuel bed. If the Ceramat becomes damaged the fire must not be used. This appliance does not contain any component manufactured from asbestos or asbestos related products.

    Servicing Servicing should be carried out annually by a GAS SAFE registered engineer. The fire should be completely removed to include visually checking the chimney and fire opening for accumulations of debris and a smoke test to check for a positive up-draught in the chimney. The burner assembly is designed to be removed as a complete unit for ease of access.

If the glass panel is cracked or damaged it must be replaced with a manufacturer’s part. f) Clean the glass on both sides with glass cleaner to remove any stains or hand marks which may have built up. Place the glass on one side until needed for reassembly.

    Important Technical Information Spark Failure a) The gap between the pilot electrode and the pilot should be 4.0mm and normally adjustment is not necessary (the electrode is very brittle). b) The spark should jump across the gap between the electrode and the gas outlet on the pilot head. c) If the piezo spark igniter fails, a lighted taper can be inserted into the pilot area to check that gas is reaching the pilot0.

    Conditions of Installation It is law that all gas appliances are installed only by a competent (e.g. GAS SAFE) registered engineer, in accordance with the installation instructions and the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998. Failure to install appliances correctly could lead to prosecution.
  • Page 30 About your Glamour This High Efficiency Glass Fronted Gas Fire has been designed and tested to the latest standards and complies to BS7977-1:2009. This is the latest version of the standard and complies with all current regulations. The gas fire is supplied to be installed with a traditional style hearth and surround set up.

    Important Safety Information Warning This appliance has a glass front which will become very hot during operation of the fire and as with all heating appliances a fireguard should be used for the protection of children, the elderly and infirm. Fireguards should conform to B.S.

    Operating the Fire a) The fire is operated by a black plastic control knob accessed behind the front trim. See above image. The positions of the control valve are depicted on the vanity cover fitted around the control knob. Remove the lower trim and follow the procedure below.

    f) Once ignition has taken place, the fire may be set to any level between MAX and MIN by rotating the control knob accordingly. g) To turn off the main burner, turn the control to MIN - press the knob in gently and turn it clockwise to the PILOT position. To turn off the pilot, press knob and turn to OFF.

    To clean the glass panel, please remove it from the product as described on page 23. Use a clean damp cloth and ceramic glass cleaner to remove any stains or deposits from the glass panel. Do not use scouring pads as this may scratch the surface finish of the glass panel.
