    Read these instructions fully before proceeding. Unpacking the appliance. Carefully examine the carton for damage before unpacking. If it is obviously damaged, consult the supplier over whether to proceed. Make sure the carton is stood upright and open the top. Remove the fire and examine its general condition.

    This appliance is very efficient. The burner system is very clean burning; an oxygen depletion sensor will sense any significant oxygen depletion in the room and shut the fire down safely. 4.4 Appliance Data Refer to the appliance data (affixed behind the facia).     4.6 Installation Instructions General Requirements The installation should only be carried out by a CORGI Registered fitter and in accordance with national and local Regulations for both Gas & Electricity. The installation must also be in accordance with the relevant parts of local and national building regulations.

Both options can be used as tandem; alternatively the remote control can be used without the wall-mounted switch and vice versa. It is very important when removing an option it is done correctly in order for the option left to function correctly on its own.

  • Page 16 If there is an existing chimney in the room then the opening must be sealed up. The Flueless Fire Pod is designed to fit into a recessed opening this can be constructed by brick, stone or timber frame to Local and National Regulations.
  • Page 17 Before connecting any pipes to the appliance, fully purge pipes of debris or swarf etc. and connect the gas supply to the 8mm isolation valve on the fire. Leak test the supply using an approved method. After the gas and electrics have been positioned the recessed plate is to be fixed in place via the holes provided at each end of the recessed plate.

    When the gas and electrics have been connected check all wiring and gas work is safe before switching the appliance on. The unit can be tested for soundness and electrical workings without the fascia, but the fascia must be fitted when testing the flame picture and lighting times.

Any other type could affect combustion or overheat the gas controls. If fitting over an existing fireplace, the flue and cavity MUST be blocked off completely to prevent suction on the back of the appliance The top of the flue should also be capped off to prevent the entry of moisture etc.

    Fitting the Fascia The unit is supplied with either a Metal Fascia or a Stone Fascia these are fitted the same way. The fascia supplied with the fire unit must be used and must not be modified as the fascia has been tested, any other type could affect combustion or overheat the gas controls.

    4.8 Fault Diagnosis Spark Failure The gap between the pilot electrode and the pilot should be 3.5 – 4.5mm and normally adjustment is not necessary (the electrode is very brittle). The spark should jump across the gap between the electrode and the gas outlet on the pilot head. If the ignitor fails, a lighted taper can be inserted into the pilot area to check that gas is reaching the pilot.

  • Page 25 4.9 Commissioning The fascia must be attached to the unit when testing the flame picture and is to be tested for a minimum of 30 minutes ensuring that the pilot thermocouple is not too sensitive also checking all of the lighting systems e.g. The Remote Control, Hardwire switch testing the high and low flame rates.

    4.10 Servicing Instructions. The following servicing procedure should be carried out on an annual basis and only by a qualified person. Note: foreign bodies which can gather on the surface of the burner unit. It is inevitable that servicing can be a dusty operation. Suitable precautions should be taken.
  • Page 27 Servicing Continued Cleaning the burner workings To clean the burner workings from debris the fascia is to be removed - shown in fitting instructions. Clean the air inlets, removing all lint in the area of the injector and ensuring that the pilot light aeration hole and flame head are clean.

    4.11 Replacement Parts NOTE – Certain parts shown below may need to be replaced at the CVO factory as the unit will need to be re-tested, setting the valve flow-rate etc. CVO offers a reconditioning service on the burner unit. Call the CVO factory for more information.

    4.12 Gas Fire User Instructions Lighting the Fire INFRA-RED REMOTE OPERATION Infrared systems require “Line of sight” between the handset and the sensor at the appliance, it is a standard safety feature to ensure that the appliance cannot be remotely lit from another room.
  • Page 31 Press the ON/OFF bottom (left side) for 2-3 seconds (until the spark ignition sequence begins) and release. The ignition sequence will continue for a further 10-15 seconds before the burner is ignited to the “High position.” To switch off press the ON/OFF button for 2-3 seconds. Press the HIGH/LOW button (right side) for 2-3 seconds the appliance will change to low rate.
  • Page 32 INFRA-RED REMOTE OPERATION Infrared (IR) system requires “Line of sight” between the handset and the appliance. This is a standard feature to ensure the appliance cannot be lit from another room. Also a safety feature is that to light the unit both buttons must be pressed and held until the pilot clicks before letting go of the buttons, the reason for this is that it is less likely to accidentally switch the unit on.

    Infrared Remote Control Replacing the battery 4.13 Re-setting the Appliance Hand Held Remote Unit To start your appliance, press both buttons on the hand-held remote unit, hold them down for a minimum of three seconds until the ignition process begins which will run for 19-20 seconds before it turns onto the main burner. After the burner has ignited, it can then be switched to high or low using the button on the right side of the handset.
