OPERATING FAULTS
The starter is activated
The engine will not start
(vehicle with RENAULT card).
It is difficult to start the engine in wet
weather or after washing the vehicle.
The engine is difficult to start when hot.
The engine cannot be switched off
(vehicle with RENAULT card).
The steering column remains locked.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
Starting conditions are not fulfilled.
The hands-free RENAULT card is not de-
tected.
The RENAULT card does not work.
Poor ignition, ignition system damp.
Faulty carburation (bubbles of vaporised
fuel in the circuit).
Poor compression.
Electronic fault.
Steering wheel locked.
ACTION REQUIRED
Refer to the information on Starting and
stopping the engine in Section 2.
Move the card inside the passenger com-
partment.
Insert the card in the card reader in order
to start the engine.
Refer to the information on Starting and
stopping the engine in Section 2.
Dry the spark plug and coil wires.
Let the engine cool down.
Consult an approved dealer.
Press the starter button quickly five
times.
Move the steering wheel while press-
ing the engine start button (refer to the
information on Starting the engine in
Section 2).
