If you want to increase
spring preload, use the tool
from the on-board toolkit to
turn the spring retainer in
the B direction.
The range of adjustment
comprises five settings.
Spring preload at front
z
wheel
Spring preload at setting
2 (On-road riding)
Spring preload at setting
3 (For riding on gravel
tracks and similar and
with load)
Spring preload at setting
5 (For riding off-road)

Shock-absorber settings
and spring preload
Damping must be adapted
to suit spring preload. An in-
crease in spring preload re-
quires firmer damping, a re-
duction in spring preload re-
quires softer damping.
Adjusting damping for
rear wheel
Your motorcycle's hand-
ling will suffer if you do
not match the spring-preload
and damping-characteristic
settings.
Adjust the damping
characteristic to suit spring
preload.
Make sure the ground is
level and firm and place the
motorcycle on its stand.
You adjust the rear shock
absorber by turning adjust-
ing screw 1.
If you want a harder damp-
ing characteristic, use a
screwdriver to turn adjust-
