    NTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing the Socket Bluetooth Cordless Hand Scanner (Bluetooth CHS) 7X or 7XRx. The Socket Bluetooth CHS combines the power of 2D and 1D barcode scanning with the convenience of Bluetooth wireless technology so you can collect barcode data without being tied to your mobile or desktop computer.

    TTACHING THE ETHER 1. Use a coin or screwdriver to unlock and remove the battery cover. Turn the lock underneath the scanner to a horizontal position to unlock. 2. Remove the battery cover. Make sure you do NOT remove the battery. The Bluetooth Device Address is printed on a label inside the battery compartment.

    ASIC UNCTIONALITY Function Procedure Power On: Press and hold down the power button until you hear two (low-high) tones. Powering on /off Power Off: Press and hold down the power button until you hear two (high-low) tones. Press and hold the trigger button to activate the scanner. An aiming beam will appear for 3 seconds.

  • Page 17 STEP 4: O PPLICATION 1. Start the application that you want to feed scanned data into. Make sure a document or spreadsheet is open. Note: If you scan into Microsoft Word, if the first character of scanned data is a letter, it will be capitalized by default.

    4 | S ETUP FOR INDOWS OBILE This chapter explains how to install and use the Socket Bluetooth Cordless Hand Scanner (CHS) with the SoMo 650 handheld computer or other device running Windows Mobile or Windows CE. Before you begin the instructions in this chapter, make sure you have charged the scanner, as described in Chapter 2, “Hardware Preparation.”...

After the connection starts, the scanner will beep once, and the Blue LED will blink once every 3 seconds.

  • Page 24 Unfortunately, this is a limitation with the iPad application where the virtual keyboard becomes disabled when any Bluetooth keyboard device is attached. The CHS 7X(Rx) is detected as a Bluetooth keyboard in the HID (Human Interface Device) profile so in essence would result the same behavior as when a Bluetooth keyboard device is connected.

    PPENDIX ARCODE ABEL PECIFICATIONS All barcode symbols/labels should satisfy the appropriate AIM Uniform Symbology Specification. Background Substrate: The barcode symbol should be printed on material (media) that is reflective and has a matte (not glossy) finish. A background diffuse reflectance of at least 70% to 80% is desirable for optimum contrast.
