ChokeControl
The choke control i slocated onthe RH console .The choke control
determines t hepositionofthe engine choke. P ulltheknobout to
choke theengine;push the knobintoopenthechoke.
Ignition Switch Module
Neverleavea runningmachineunattended.Alwaysdisengage PTO, s et
parkingbrake,stopengine andremovekeyto preventunintendedstarting.
Tostarttheengine, i nsertthe keyintothe ignition
switchandturnclockwise tothe START(_)
position. R elease thekeyintothe NO RMAL
MOWING MODE _l_ _
position oncethe
engine hasfired.
Tostopthe engine,turn the ignitionkey
counterclockwise to the STOP _ position.
PowerTake-Off(PTO) K nob
ThePTO knobislocated on the RH console to the left ofthe
hourmeter/indicator p anel.
ThePTO knoboperates the electricPTO clutchmounted on
the bottomof the enginecrankshaft. Pullthe knobupward
to engage the PTO clutch,or pushthe knobdownwardto
disengage the clutch.
ThePTO knobmustbeinthe "disengaged" p ositionwhen
startingthe engine.

Transmission Bypass Rods
Thetransmission b ypass rods(oneforeachthe RHandLHtransmission) arelocated
on the rearofthe tractor,justinsideeachrearwheel.
Whenengaged, t he two rodsopenabypass withinthe hydrostatic transmissions,
whichallowsthe tractorto bepushed shortdistances byhand.Refer t o the
Assembly &Set-Up sectionforinstructionsonusingthe bypass f eature.
Nevertow your tractor. Towingthe tractor with the rearwheelson the
ground maycauseseveredamageto the transmissions.
Priorto operatingthe tractor, referto both Safety Interlock Switches
and Starting The Engine in the Operationsectionof this manualfor
detailed instructions r egarding the Ignition SwitchModuleandoperating
the tractor in REVERSECAUTION MODE :_.
FuelTankCap
Thefuel tankcapislocatednearthe middleof the LHconsole. T urn the fill capto
remove. T hefuelcapistetheredto thetractorto preventits loss. D onot attemptto
remove the capfrom the tractor.Filltankto the bottomof the filler neck,allowing
somespace inthe tankforfuel expansion. D onot overfill the tank.
Push the capdownwardon the fueltankfill neck andturn clockwise until it clicksto
tighten.Alwaysre-installthe fuelcaptightly ontothe fueltank after removing.
DeckHeightIndex
The deck height i ndex consists ofseveral holes located o nthe
frontoftheRHconsole. Each holecorresponds to a1/4" change in
thedeck height p osition ranging from1"atthelowestnotchto
4"atthehighest n otch. T he highest n otchis also thetransport
position andthe lowest p osition is the deck removal/installation
NOTE: Donotcut grass in thedeckremoval/installation
position_.
Doingsoisdetrimentalto the belt life.
DeckLift Handle
Thedecklift handleislocated onthe front of the RHconsole,
andis usedto raiseandlowerthe mowerdeck.
Depress thebuttonontheendofthehandle a ndpush downward t olower t hedeck, or pull
upward toraise thedeck. When thedesired h eight i sattained, secure t hepininthedesired
index hole andrelease the button onthehandle.
NOTE: Makecertainthe deckissecured andthe pin isfullyinsertedintothe
deckheightindex.Thepin iskeyedto helpkeepit inplaceandfits into the
slottedholeson the deckheightindex.
NOTE:The decklift handle mustalways beabove thepin,neverhang the deck
lift handle fromthe pinwhenmowing.
Neverfill the fuel tank when the engine is running.Ifthe engine ishot
from recently running, allow to coolfor severalminutes before refueling.
Highlyflammable gasolinecould splashonto the engine andcauseafire.
Fuel LevelWindow
Thefuellevel w indowsislocated onthe outside ofthe LHconsole andshows the level
of fuelinthegastank.
Transmission Oil Expansion Reservoir
Thetransmission o il expansion reservoir i sconnected byhoses to the RHandLH
transmission a ssemblies, andislocatedbehindthe seatbox.Thefunctionof the
reservoir i sto holdthe naturalexpansion of transmission o il thatoccursasthe
transmission w armsup duringoperation. S ee the Assembly & Set-Up sectionfor
moreinformation o nthe transmission o il expansion reservoir.
