3. CONNECTION TO THE CHIMNEY

All Boru Stoves are certified with a chimney draught reading of 12-14 pascals – where the
chimney draught exceeds this reading we recommend a draught stabiliser be installed – please
contact an accredited chimney specialist for further details.
 The flue or chimney system must be in good condition and inspected by an accredited
competent person before installation. The chimney must also be cleaned before
installation.
 The chimney height and position of the chimney terminal should conform to Building
Regulations.
 Check that the chimney is in good condition, dry, free from cracks and obstructions.
 An existing fireplace opening can be closed up or sealed using a register plate.
 If installing into a masonary chimney it is required to fit a register plate in accordance with
Building Regulations.
 The diameter of the flue should not be less than 150mm and not more than 230mm.
 If any of these requirements are not met, the chimney should be lined by a suitable
method.
 It is essential that all connections between the stove and chimney flue are sealed and
made airtight.
