12.1 The following checks must be carried out twice a year to maintain extended warranty:
Check for soot and creosote build up and sign of joint damage. Do not use if the flue pipe
or chimney is damaged. To check this, the baffle plate must be removed by lifting it up and
pulling out.
Clean the baffle before refitting. Do not light the stove until the baffle has been refitted.
Make sure the glass is not cracked or chipped and that the rope has a good seal. Failure to
replace frayed rope will result in over firing thus the extended warranty will be void.
Check that the stove door is tight and well sealed when closed.
13. CLEANING YOUR GLASS
To clean the glass establish a good fire and use the airwash system see page 18. However there
will be times when the glass has to be cleaned by hand. To do this, use a soft cloth and a
nonabrasive cleaner. Never clean the glass when the stove is hot. Do not use the stove with
cracked or broken glass. If the glass breaks when the fire is lighting leave until the fire is
extinguished. Do not open the door until the stove is completely cool.
Glass for your Stove is 4mm Boru Stoves Heat Resistant Glass. Only use genuine Boru Glass.
If handling glass whether broken or not – ALWAYS wear protective gloves.
On start-up, the glass is cold. Water vapour coming from the moist burning fuel reaches this cold
glass surface and can start to condense. This vapour can carry waxy deposits from damp wood,
which can then attach to the inner surface of the glass.
Once such deposits occur they more readily attract further deposits. On heating, the glass then
clears itself of moisture and waxy deposits which will be burnt away. By getting the stove
temperature high enough, the more stubborn carbon deposits on the glass can also burn away.
However, trace deposits are often left behind which can get burnt onto the glass surface.
Other precautions include:
Avoid burning damp or unseasoned fuel
Not overfilling the grate
Allowing the last refuelling of the day to burn on high for 20 to 30 minutes before closing
the dampers
Glass is heat resistant but not force resistant
