Care and maintenance
Air cleaner
General (1.6 and 2:0 litre eng ines)
The paper filter element in the air cleaner is
normally renewed at the intervals given in the
service schedule. In very dusty conditions
the element must be cleaned or renewed at
shorter intervals.
1.6 litre engine
Cleaning or renewing the element
• Pull vacuum hose A off.
• Release cl ip B.
• Lift cleaner out of lower mounting and pull
it out of front mounting .
• Release 4 cl ips and take housing apart.
• Take element out and clean or replace.
Insert paper element again carefu lly and en­
sure that seal is located properly.
When installing cleaner, insert hou sing in
grommet of fron t mounting and push it fo r­
ward to engage it in the lower mounti ng.
Close clip and connect vacuum hose.
Do not let element come into contact with
petrol or oil.
