ASSEMBLY
ADJUSTING THE MITER LOCK
See Figures 17 - 18.
Prior to squaring the saw blade to the fence, check and
adjust the miter lock lever. The blade must be set at an "un-
indexed" miter position other than 0˚, 15˚, 22.5˚, 31.6˚, 45˚,
60˚, and 67.5˚ to test. In the "locked" position, the action
of pushing the miter lock lever down should feel tight and
secure. Considerable effort should be required to move the
miter table. If the table moves easily when in the "locked"
position, an adjustment of the miter lock lever and miter
lock is required.
To adjust:
 Unplug the saw.
 Lift the miter lock lever and press the miter detent bypass
to unlock the miter table.
 Using a 13 mm combination wrench, hold the nut station-
ary while using a 4 mm hex key to adjust the miter lock
screw. Make adjustments of one-quarter turn or less.
NOTE: Turning the miter lock screw clockwise will in-
crease the clamping force. Turning the miter lock screw
counterclockwise decreases the clamping force.
 After making the adjustment, check to see that the shoe
and miter saw base are close but not in contact with each
other.
 Using the hex key, hold the miter lock screw stationary,
while using the combination wrench to adjust the nut
holding the miter lock shoe.
NOTE: The miter lock shoe is located on the rear under-
side of the saw.
 After making the adjustment, test the clamping force.
ADJUSTING THE MITER LOCK LEVER
See Figure 19.
Lift the miter lock lever to unlock the miter table.
 Unplug the saw.
 Lift the miter lock lever to unlock the miter table.
 If the miter lock lever is not parallel with the top of the
miter table, adjustments are needed.
 Using a combination wrench and a flat head screwdriver,
hold the miter lock screw in place and loosen the miter
lock nut.
 Turn the miter lock screw clockwise to lower the lever.
 Turn the miter lock screw counterclockwise to raise the
lever.
 Continue to adjust the lock lever until it is parallel with
the miter table.
 Hold the screw in place and tighten the lock nut securely.
NOTE: After adjusting the miter lock lever, it may be
necessary to adjust the miter detent button.
