5. Tips for better results
• Stretch a piece of string along the hedge as a guide for cutting in a straight line and cut just above the string.
• It is often best to cut the top of the hedge first. Try to find a method of cutting that lets the cuttings drop in
the right place.
• The most effective cutting technique is to angle the trimmer so that the cutting edge is pointing into
the hedge and the back of the blade is a little further away from the hedge.
• Hold the trimmer at the desired angle and swing it slowly and carefully along the cutting line. Do not apply
too much pressure; let the trimmer do the work!
• Lop off the thickest branches/twigs using secateurs or another suitable tool.
• The double-edged blades allow you to use both sides of the trimmer. Use a circular motion, and make sure
you have a well-balanced stance.
• Trimming the sides of hedges is best done from the bottom upwards in the direction of growth.
• Lubricate the blades regularly.

To clean the trimmer, first disconnect it from the mains by pulling out the plug and then wipe it using a soft cloth.
If necessary, a mild detergent may also be used. Never use abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
