3. Slide the GBIC module into one of the expansion slots in the front of
the AT-8024GB Switch. The GBIC module is completely seated in the
slot when it clicks into place.
Figure 24 Installing a GBIC Module
Note
If you are installing only one GIBC module in the switch, you should
install the module in the slot labelled Port A. While the module will
work in the Port B slot with Port A empty, the port numbering
assignments will change if you later install a module in Port A. This
could affect the VLAN memberships on the switch and that could
require adjusting your VLAN configurations.
For example, if you install an GBIC in Port B with Port A empty, the
switch will assign port number 25 to the fiber optic port on the
module. If you later install a GBIC module in Port A, the switch will
reallocate port number 25 to the new module in Port A and assign
port number 26 to the module in Port B. If the module in Port B was
a member of a VLAN other than the Default VLAN, you would have
to reconfigure the switch's VLANs to reflect the change to the
module's port number.
4. If you purchased two GBIC modules for the switch, repeat this
procedure to install the second module.
5. GO TO THE NEXT PROCEDURE.
