paths into the radio. Any radio
maintenance should be performed only by
a qualified radio technician.

Cleaning Your Radio

Caution: Do not use solvents to clean your
radio as most chemicals may permanently
damage the radio housing and textures.
Do not submerge the radio in the detergent
solution.
To clean the external surfaces of your radio, follow
the procedure described next.
1 Combine one teaspoon of mild dishwashing
detergent to one gallon of water (0.5% solution).
2 Apply the solution sparingly with a stiff, non-
metallic, shortbristled brush, making sure excess
detergent does not get entrapped near the
connectors, controls or crevices. Dry the radio
thoroughly with a soft, lint-free cloth.
3 Clean battery contacts with a lint-free cloth to
remove dirt or grease.

Proper Ways to Handle the Radio

Do not pound, drop, or throw the radio
unnecessarily. Never carry the radio by the
antenna.
Avoid subjecting the radio to an excess of liquids.
Do not submerge the radio unless it is a
ruggedized.
Avoid subjecting the radio to corrosives, solvents
or chemicals.
Do not disassemble the radio.
Keep the accessory-connector cover in place until
ready to use the connector. Replace the cover
immediately once the accessory has been
disconnected.
When charging the radio using a wall mounted
charger, the radio must be turned off. Otherwise,
the Man Down Alert and Emergency may be
accidentally triggered.
