Using the PL Defeat Feature

This feature allows you to override any coded squelch
(DPL or PL) that might be preprogrammed to a
channel. The radio also unmutes to any digital activity
on a digital channel.
Place the preprogrammed PL Defeat switch in the
PL Defeat position.
One of the following scenarios occurs:
You hear any activity on the channel.
The radio is muted if no activity is present.
Result
You hear any digital
traffic.
You hear any digital
traffic having the correct
network access code.
You hear any digital
traffic having the correct
network access code and
correct talkgroup.
Note: When this feature is active, the Carrier
Squelch status indicator is displayed.

Digital PTT ID Support

This feature allows you to see the radio ID (number)
of the radio from whom you are currently receiving a
transmission. This ID, consisting up to a maximum of
eight characters, can be viewed by both the receiving
radio and the dispatcher.
Your radio's ID number is also automatically sent
every time the PTT button is pressed. This is a per-
channel feature. For digital voice transmissions, your
radio's ID is sent continuously during the voice
message.

Smart PTT Feature (Conventional Only)

Smart PTT is a per-personality, programmable
feature used in conventional radio systems to keep
radio users from talking over other radio
conversations.
When smart PTT is enabled in your radio, you cannot
transmit on an active channel.
If you try to transmit on an active smart-PTT channel,
you hear an alert tone, and the transmission is
