Changing the Engine Oil Filter
Service Interval: After the first 50 hours
Every 200 hours
1. Place a drip pan beneath the oil drip tray to receive oil
from the oil filter and oil passages in the engine.
2. Drain the oil from the engine; refer to
Changing the Engine Oil (page 34).
3. Turn the filter counterclockwise to remove it
(Figure 45 and Figure 46).
Note: Dispose of the oil filter properly. Recycle in
accordance with local codes.
4. Before installing the filter, lightly oil the gasket on the
filter with fresh, clean oil. Screw the filter on by hand
until the gasket contacts the oil filter adapter. Tighten
1/2 to 3/4 turn more.
5. Add oil; refer to Adding Engine Oil (page 35).
