Verify the Installation

When installation is complete and power has been applied to the hub, the following conditions
should exist:
Power LED is on.
Link LED on each connected port is on.
Utilization LEDs on the front panel are blinking when data is being received
by any port in the hub, and the Link/Receive LED on the connected port is
blinking when data is being received by that port.
If there are any problems, refer to the Troubleshooting table.

Cable and Connector Information

Twisted Pair Cables
For two devices to communicate, the transmitter of each device must be
connected to the receiver of the other device. The crossover function is usually
implemented internally as part of the circuitry in the device. Most hub and
switch ports are MDI-X wired and called normal ports. Computers and
workstation adapter cards are usually MDI wired and called uplink ports.
An uplink port connects to a normal port using standard straight-through cable,
and a normal port connects to a normal port using a crossover cable.
The figures illustrate the use of straight-through and crossover twisted pair
cables.
