Setting the Focus Method

Set the focus mode switch to v or
w.
The autofocus method for shooting with the viewfinder differs
from that for shooting with Live View.
TTL phase-matching AF:
Select from x, y, or z mode
Shooting with
which enables automatically switching
the viewfinder
between x and y.
Faster autofocus performance than the
contrast detection AF is possible. (p.61)

menu.

reactivate autofocus or to maintain the focus for a certain
