4. Remove the four screws that secure the system board shield and then remove it from the chassis.

5. Align the four screw holes in the new system board shield with the corresponding holes in the chassis.
Then, install the four screws to secure the system board shield to the chassis.

Replacing a memory module

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the "Read
this first: Important safety information" on page iii.
Note: Ensure that you install memory modules first into memory slot 1 and then memory slot 2. See "Parts
on the system board" on page 7.
To replace a memory module, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 54.
3. Remove the system board shield. See "Replacing the system board shield" on page 59.
4. Locate the memory module you want to replace. The memory modules are installed in the memory slots
on the system board. See "Parts on the system board" on page 7.
