6. Remove the four screws that secure the storage drive, and then remove the storage drive from the
storage drive bracket.

7. Align the four screw holes in the new storage drive with the corresponding holes in the storage drive
bracket. Then, install the four screws to secure the storage drive to the storage drive bracket.
8. Align the four screw holes in the storage drive bracket with the corresponding holes in the chassis.
Then, install the four screws to secure the storage drive bracket with the storage drive to the chassis.
9. Connect the storage drive cable to the storage drive.

Replacing the optical drive

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the "Read
this first: Important safety information" on page iii.
To replace the optical drive, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 54.
3. Locate the optical drive. See "Computer components" on page 5.
4. Press the tab 1 on the optical drive bracket as shown with a tool (such as a screwdriver), and then slide
the optical drive out of the bracket.
