Removing and Installing the Cooling Shroud Fan

CAUTION:
Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or
telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your
warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.
NOTICE:
Never remove the memory cooling shroud without first powering down the system. Overheating of the
system can develop quickly resulting in a shutdown of the system and the loss of data.
1 Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 48.
2 Release the fan bracket from the cooling shroud by squeezing the latches on each side of the fan
bracket, and then rotate the bracket to the up position. See Figure 3-7.
NOTE:
Do not remove the cooling shroud from the system to perform this step.
