ADJUSTING THE VALVE CLEARANCE

a. Turn camshaft bolt
TIP
• Do not turn the bolt in Counterclockwise
direction to prevent from camshaft bolt
looseness.
b. Align the " I " mark
with the stationary pointer
head. When the " I " mark is aligned with
the stationary pointer, the piston is at the Top
Dead Center (TDC) on the compression stroke.
TIP
• When the piston is at the Top Dead Center
(TDC) on the compression stroke, there
should be clearance between the valve stem
tips and their respective adjusting screws.
c. Measure the valve clearance with a thick-
ness gauge

5. Adjust:
• valve clearance
a. Loosen the locknut

b. Insert a thickness gauge
adjuster end and the valve end.
c. Turn the adjuster
3
clockwise with the tappet adjusting tool
until the proper clearance is obtained.
