Editing id3 tags

Many of a track's textual fields can be freely edited in ITCH. Double-click on the field in the
main library display to edit, and enter the revised text. Filename, length, size, bit rate and
sampling cannot be edited, as this information is embedded in the file header itself. Note that
the Protect library option (in SETUP > LIBRARY) must be off to permit editing. See page 66
for more info
tiP: use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+E to edit text. The arrow keys move the cursor (edit
point) within text in the selected field; hold down the CTRL key and use the arrow keys to move
between fields while remaining in edit mode. When you have more than one track selected,
editing tags changes all the tracks in your selection (but you will first be asked for confirmation).
tiP: the second column in the library is a colour ident for that track, which can be used, for
example, to match the track's original label colour. The virtual deck assumes this colour when
the track is loaded. Clicking the field in the library brings up a colour palette; select the colour
required. The default colour is white.
notE: Tracks that are read-only have a 'locked' icon.
album art
MP3 files can contain album artwork. Clicking the album art button
toggles the artwork

panel on and off. There are many third party applications available for adding album art to MP3
files.
Library auto-Backup
When it is installed, ITCH creates a folder on your hard disk called Serato where it stores
your library database, crate data and other information. The Serato folder is located in the My
Music folder on Windows systems and in the Music folder on Macs.
ITCH will also create a Serato folder on any external drive that is in use with ITCH.
The first time you close ITCH you will be prompted to back up your library. This creates a
copy of the Serato folder on your system drive and also on any connected external drives
containing a Serato folder. The backup folder is called SeratoBackup. After the initial
backup, you will be prompted to back up if it is found that the last backup on that drive is more
than a week old, or if no backup exists. ITCH only maintains ONE backup file at a time, so each
time you back up, ITCH will overwrite the previous backup file.
notE: If you have an earlier version of ITCH or Scratch Live installed, the library folder will be
called ScratchLIVE instead of Serato.
