Maintenance
of
batteries in
service
Dry charged
batteries,
once
given a booster charge
or
received wet. are maintained as
follows:
•
at least
once a
moolh,
lop up with
distilled
wat·
er
(never acid)
to

plates,
with the
battery
horizontal
and at rest;
•
keep the
terminals
clean
and
tight
and smeared
with
petroleum
jelly;
•
keep the lop

battery
dry,
avoiding acid
spillage,
wnich
would damage
the

corrode
the
battery
brac
kets
and
hOusing;
•
make sure
that the
motorcycle
battery

harging
circuit
does
not
give
excessive or
insufficient

isn't, then

signal lenses are

They can
be

moved

levering a screwdriver

dicated by arrows.
The
bulbs
can
then be
replaced.
Speedometer,
Odometer,
Tachometer,
Voltmeter,
and
Panel Indicator Lights
Pull
out
the bulb
holders to
replace the
bulbs.
