type
with
24 An
capacity.
II is
charged by
the
alternator,
Access
to
the
battery Is obtained
by:
unlocking
and
lifting the
saddle:

the
wiring.
Activation of dry charged batteries
Ory charged batteries retain their
charge
fO( a long
time
If kept with their filler plugs tight,
in
a dry envl·
ronment
at 200
to
30° C.
They are
put
into
service
as
follows
:
1
fill the
cells with sulphuric acid of
specillc
gravity
1.27.
at
25
D
C,
to
5
mm
above
the
plates,
or
10
the
Ie·
vel
indicated;

The
battery
is now
ready
101'
use.
FOI'
a
longer battery
life,
it
is best
to check
the
acid
specific
gravity
in all of
the
cells.
If any reading
Is below
1.26 then the battery
should
be given a
booster charge
at
'/5
of
the rated current
as
shown
in tile
catalogue.
5 hours are
recommend·
ed, and
normally suHiclent.
The battery temperature
should not
exceed
45°
C
;
if this
happens,
then
fe·
duce the current, and increase
the
charging
time.
Stop charging when tile specific gravity
has
reached
1.27
·
1.28
at
25°
C and
has
remained stea·
dy
for
3
read

halt·
