Setting up the system
You can set up the speaker system after connecting the
speakers correctly (see page 11~12). Be sure to set up the
system following the instructions below. Otherwise, the A-
SMART SCAN CONTROLLER
DS650 may not operate properly.
1. Press the PARAMETER button.
2.
Rotate the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER to select
"System Setup" and press the ENTER button.
"Sp. Setup" appears, and you can select the type and
size of the speakers as follows.

Press the ENTER button.

You can set a subwoofer parameter. Options are "Sub-
woofr YES" and "Subwoofr NO".
4.
Rotate the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER to select
the desired option.
If a subwoofer is connected to your system, select
"Subwoofr YES".
5.
Press the ENTER button.
You can set a front speaker parameter. Options are
SMART SCAN CONTROLLER
"Front LRG (large)" and "Front SML (small)".
6.
Rotate the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER to select
the desired option.
If you have selected "Subwoofr NO" in step 4, "Front
LRG" will be selected automatically.
7.
Press the ENTER button.
You can set a center speaker parameter. Options are
"Center LRG (large)," "Center SML (small)," and
"Center NON (none)."
8.
Rotate the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER to select
the desired option.
You cannot select "Center LRG" if you have selected
"Front SML" in step 6.
9.
Press the ENTER button.
You can set a surround speaker parameter. Options are
"Surround LRG (large)," "Surround SML (small)," and
"Surround NON (none)."
10. Rotate the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER to select
the desired option.
You cannot select "Surround LRG" if you have
selected "Front SML" in step 6.
If the surround speaker parameter is set to "Surround
NON," you may select STEREO or DOLBY 3 stereo as
Surround mode. To use Surround mode, you should at
least select either the center or surround speakers. Other-
wise, Surround mode is disabled and the unit remains in
STEREO mode.
Speaker Settings
SMART SCAN CONTROLLER
LRG(Large): Select this for large,wideband speakers.
SML(Small): Select this for small speakers with limited
bass signal handling. With this setting, the bass sounds of
the speakers set to SML are re-directed to the subwoofer
or other speakers set to LRG.
NON(None): Select when center and surround speakers
are not used.
