Instrumentation and Controls
Be sure to replace the engine
oil filter each time you change
engine oil.
Even if the oil life system does
not indicate that an oil change
is necessary, the engine oil and
filter must be changed at least
once a year.
After you change the oil, you
need to reset the system.
If you do not reset the system,
the monitor will not work
correctly.

To reset the system, do the
following:
- Turn the ignition on but do
not start the engine.
- Press repeatedly to select
this display.
- Press and hold the button
for five seconds.
When the system is reset, the
display should read 100%.
- Start the engine.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL
SOON (change engine oil
soon) message comes back on,
the system did not reset.
Repeat this procedure.

The oil life indicator should
only be reset after an oil
change.
If the system is ever reset
accidentally, change the oil at
5000 km since your last oil
change and reset the system
again.
