4. Push the latch plate into the
buckle until it clicks. Make
sure the release button on
the buckle faces upward or
outward.
Pull up on the latch plate to
make sure it is secure.
CAUTION
You could be seriously injured if
your belt is buckled in the
wrong place. Always buckle
your belt into the buckle
nearest you.
Be sure the belt goes under the
armrests (if equipped).
If the safety belt goes over an
armrest (if equipped), the lap
portion of the safety belt could
apply force to the abdomen in a
crash, not to the much stronger
pelvic bones.

equipped with a shoulder belt
height adjuster, adjust the
shoulder belt height.
See "Shoulder Belt Height
Adjuster" later in this section.
6. Pull on the shoulder section to
adjust the lap fit.
For smaller occupants, you
may need to pull the stitching
on the lap belt through the

belt.

sudden stop or crash.
To unlatch the belt:
• Push the button on the buckle.
When you pull the shoulder
portion of some passenger
lap/shoulder belts all the way out,
the child restraint locking feature is
engaged. The belt can no longer
be pulled out until it is fully
