Using and replacing the surface light

(Some freestanding models)
The surface light is in the backguard. It is
controlled by the Surface Light Command
Pad on the control panel. See "Using the
electronic oven control" section for location
information.
To turn the surface light on or off:

Replacing the surface light:
1. Unplug range or disconnect power.
2. Flip up the top of the backguard.
3. Pull up glass on front of backguard.

4. Grasp the fluorescent light tube at both
ends. Turn the tube approximately 90°
in either direction until both ends come
out of the receptacles. Replace with a
20-watt cool-white fluorescent light tube.
5. If the surface light still does not work,
you may need to replace the starter. The
starter is a knob-shaped part located on
the right side of the backguard, under the
light tube. To remove and replace the
starter, first remove light tube. Push
starter in and turn approximately 90°
counterclockwise. Pull starter out of
recessed area. You can find replacement
starters at stores that sell fluorescent light
tubes.
6. Replace glass and close the top panel.
7. Plug in range or reconnect power.
