CAUTION
If the engine oil pressure light "
c o m e s o n d u r i n g r e g u l a r e n g i n e
operation, it means that engine oil
pressure in the circuit is low.
If so, stop the engine immediately and
contact a Moto Guzzi Authorised
Dealer.
Change to a lower gear (downshift):
u
When riding downhill or when braking,
use engine braking to increase braking
effect.
u
When riding uphill, if the gear engaged is
too high for your speed and engine rpm
is dropping.
CAUTION
When shifting down, always select the
next lower gear or you will cause the
engine to race (exceed red line rpm
limit).
Before and during a downshift, release
the throttle grip and slow down a bit in
order to avoid hitting the "red line".

To shift down, proceed as follows:
u
Release the throttle grip (2) (Pos.A).
u
If
necessary,
moderately and slow down.
u
Pull the clutch lever (3) and push down
the gear change lever (4) to shift down.
u
If you have pulled the brakes, release
them.
u
Release the clutch lever and accelerate
moderately.
CAUTION
If the wording "
normal engine operation, it means that
the ECU has detected a fault.
In most cases, the engine will keep
r u n n i n g , a l t h o u g h g i v i n g l e s s

performance. immediately contact a
Moto Guzzi Authorised Dealer.
When the vehicle is at standstill with the
engine running, avoid keeping the
clutch pulled with a gear engaged for a
long time or the clutch will overheat.
Avoid opening and closing the throttle

repeatedly and continuously, or you
may lose control of the vehicle. When
you need to brake, close the throttle
a n d u s e b o t h b r a k e s f o r s m o o t h
apply
the
brakes
braking; take care to apply the right
amount of pressure to both brakes.
Using one brake only gives less braking
power and you could lock a wheel and
lose grip.
To stop uphill, decelerate completely
and use the brakes to keep the vehicle
at standstill.
Do not use engine braking or the clutch
