4.7 DEVELOPMENT AND TONER SUPPLY SECTION
4.7.1 Overview
Negatively charged toner is attracted to the positively charged areas of the drum,
developing the latent image.
The negative triboelectric charge on toner particles is generated by friction between
the carrier and toner particles.
4.7.2 Mechanical Parts
1. Overview
The paddle roller picks up developer in its paddles and transports it to the
development roller. Internal permanent magnets in the development roller attract the
developer to the development roller sleeve.
The turning sleeve of the development roller then carries the developer past the
doctor blade. The doctor blade trims the developer to the desired thickness and
creates back spill to the cross mixing mechanism.
The main CPU checks toner density using the image density sensor.
When toner density is low, the toner supply clutch turns on.
