Connecting Components
The memory test checks system memory then displays the total amount of memory
installed in the server. Depending on the your system settings, the POST may display the
"Press Del to enter SETUP", allowing you to enter the setup routine.
When you press Del, the setup function starts. Otherwise, the boot sequence continues.
If an error is detected during the POST, a beep code sounds or a message is displayed.

Turning off the server

Always follow the proper shutdown procedure for your operating system before turning
off the server. If you fail to do this, the server may not restart correctly.

Shut down the operating system. For instructions, refer to the user's guide provided
with the operating system software.

Press the Power button.

System startup

You can start the server from the hard disk drive, floppy disk drive, or CD-ROM drive.

Starting up from the floppy disk drive

Insert a startup diskette into the floppy disk drive.

Turn on the power.

Starting from the HDD (with an operating system)

Check that the floppy disk and CD-ROM drives are empty.
TECHNICAL NOTE: If a bootable startup CD is detected during system start-up,
the server will not boot from the hard disk drive, even if you remove the CD from the
CD-ROM drive. To boot from the hard disk drive, restart the server.

Turn on the power.

Starting from a bootable CD-ROM

Make sure the floppy disk drive is empty.

Press the Power button to turn on the server.
